Visible: (nominal ocular hazard distance, NOHD) ≈ 48 meters. Within this distance direct eye exposure can be harmful. Note: This applies to direct beam to the eye. Reflections from matte surfaces are much safer.

IR:Hazard distance (NOHD) for 850 nm, 0.7 mW, 0.5 mrad ≈ 33 meters. IR light is invisible, so direct exposure is extra dangerous as there is no flashing/reflection

The IRIS-3 now has a powerful 60mW IR VCSEL (infrared) illuminator along with a VIS (visible) laser pointer and infrared (IR) laser pointer. In addition, the IRIS-3 now has a center-located firing button for ambidextrous activation of momentary or constant ON functions. The IRIS-3 also features updated, rear-facing power and mode selectors with improved ergonomics and feel. An all-new, ultra-compact two-button remote activation switch has a VIS override function and is included. The IRIS-3 is available with either green or red VIS laser pointer.
